i am having remote with motion sensor and tipping sensor with 2 way monitoring done for 350$ . DOing this because my tires stolen in driveway. The factory alarm did not alarm when car jacked up. Factory alarm works for glass and door breakins only

Had an after market remote start done at dealer when I bought the car new. Price was 400$ works fine. Now getting remote with motion sensor alarm and tipping alarm. I am the third Venza in the area who has had tires stolen and left on blocks in the driveway.
Pros and cons to factory remote start vs aftermarket remote start. I am from the aftermarket accessory automotive world. Both have their good and bad points. These new cars are more difficult to put remote starts on due to the bypass modules needed. The bypasses have come a long way in recent years. The downside is most dealers can be quite defiant about looking at any "electrical issues" when a car has aftermarket devices installed that are "non-factory" accessories. We have had to remove keyless systems, alarms, remote starts, etc. since the dealer blames them for everything from draining the battery to the car won't start down to other non-related problems in the car. I aggree from having numerous remote starts in my own vehicles for deacdes, the Toyota factory one sucks. I installed it myself on my own 2010 V6 Smart Key Venza because I don't want any warranty hassels with my dealer. I also bought the maximum extended warranty, so I don't want the headaches down the road. Yes, the range is limited, but it does do rear window defroster turn on as part of its function. That is sometimes a difficult feat on these new data driven cars. Many by-passes cannot do rear defroster turn on. Just my expert 2 cents.
I had a viper remote start installed in my new FJ Cruiser with the iPhone app as well as a key fob (Recommended by the installer should you not have cell coverage) and its been flawless and cost nearly half the price of the Toyota remote start, I would highly suggest it to anyone looking for a remote start.
