Default What do I need to know to add an amp & sub to the factory radio?

I want to add some bass to the factory audio system, there nothing wrong with the factory set, actually I quite like it. I probably have to get it done by a professional since am clumsy with wires and such, but am wondering how easily it this can be done.

    Have anyone done this themselves?

What system do you have ? You need to know if the OEM dash amp unit you have has a set of L+R preamp outputs and a sub out( offering sometimes a variable LPF filter) in which case you have no problem.
If no preamp outs are available then you will have to pair the power outputs of the dash unit in parallel to a "Booster" style car amp inputs. The sub in this case as to be a booster style amp also is fed by the positive power output speaker leads of each the left and right speakers.

    Cheers

See my recent post about adding a Kicker Hideaway unit. Pretty easy.
