Had the recall done on the Venza yesterday..........I didn't want the pedal/carpet reshaping recall done but wanted the re-flash of the ECU done for the brake over-ride. They wouldn't do one without the other..........so hesitantly I had them both done.
Turned out just fine...........can't really notice anything on the accelerator pedal, the floor has a slight indentation below the pedal is all.
But, the re-flash for the brake over-ride was worth it.............I tried it out several times on some back roads and it sure does work good. It shuts the acceleration down immediately and you come to a nice controlled stop.
I would recommend everyone get this done for the "just in case" scenario.
Carpet Floor Mat Height Clearance Recall (90L)

Toyota has also issued a recall pertaining to a conflict in height clearance between the carpet floor mat and the accelerator pedal, also known as 90L. When "stacking" a floor mat on top of another (i.e. placing a winter/rubber floor mat over an existing carpet floor mat), there is a chance that the accelerator pedal could become wedged or lodged underneath the floor mat(s).

The repair for this recall (90L) includes cutting a bottom portion of the accelerator pedal itself and removing excess floor material directly under the accelerator pedal. As an additional safety measure, Toyota has also included as part of this recall a software upgrade to the vehicle's braking-system with coding to ensure brake input supersedes gas input when both are applied.

Just took delivery of a 2010 FWD 4-cyl Venza yesterday. As an old-timer, I don't fully understand some of these new things and my tires had green caps on the valve stems. When I asked the delivery salesman said the tires had nitrogen instead of regular air in them and he proceeded to explain the benefits.

All that said, my question is can I just add air available at my local service station when and if needed? Will the mixture of the two mean anything to me, etc.?

Hey folks, I like the Venza but as a current Prius owner I want my next vehicle to be a hybrid.

I was Googling and found this site on a hybrid Venza - http://www.toyotavenza.net/hybrid.php

However I was wondering if there is an update?? The forums over there are dead and I found this one. Definitely busier here. Anywho, have you guys heard anything about a hybrid Venza?

Since the Camry has a hybrid option and the Venza is based off it, I'm thinking we might see one soon. I'm not looking to replace my Prius until maybe next spring it looks like right now. My Prius hybrid sure has been reliable but the kids are getting bigger and we might need some more space.

Thx.

O'well, considering its nice but the basics are it has a Camrey's frame and AWD vs a camrey's price/equiptment. Its not enough of a 'truck' or SUV for me for 30k. I lean toward "truck' thinking SUV,...like a 02/2gen-03-07/3gen 4runner. So I'll start searching for a meticulous one. They're out there i'm sure but considering the price for a venza or a camrey.......vs a 02-07 used 4runner LOADED. All used. I'll take the 4runner. Just another POV. I WANT A TRUCK! Not a cool station wagon!

I had my Venza for about a month with about 1700 miles. I went to start the car today and after I pressed the button all the lights lit up and I get a tick-tick-tick sound as the car is trying to start. Since this car does not use a key, I can't tell if the same as I have experienced when trying to start a car on a bad battery. I keep trying to start and I eventually see an ABS warning message on the center console that then says something like bring to dealer immediately. I come back after lunch to try to start the car again and as I press the brake the brake pedal is stuck all the way down. I eventually keep trying and the car starts and brake pedal becomes free.

I can't recall if the lights were left on, but does that sound like a bad battery or discharge in the battery when trying to start. The only odd thing was the ABS warning message in the morning and then the brake pedal would not come back up after so many attempts. I would really like to know how the brake pedal does stayed down even if a bad battery may be the cause.

Hey all
2010 V6 AWD Premium 4900 kms
I was in speaking with my salesman about the HVAC system on the Venza (about 2 months old) when a couple of things came up. First, for some reason the hvac usually forces the 'recirculate' function on when the car is started (once in a while it does not...). I like having the fan moving fresh air, not stale muggy interior air when it's warm out. Anybody know how to deactivate this or why it does that in the first place ? Does it in all modes except defrost.
Secondly, he told me that this car is always running the air conditioner. Whether it is selected on or off the compressor is still chugging away, burning up gas if you need it or not. Anybody know if this is true ?

Thanks !
