Default brownish spots on my blizzard white venza....wtf

Hey guys, I just bought a 2010 blizzard white venza, and I havent noticed these spots before, but they are just behind the wheel well. The dealer said to never use armor all on the tires, because it would damage the paint if it got on it. So to make a long story short, when I picked up my venza, it had tire dressing on the tires. Has anybody ever had or heard of this problem before? The dealer is going to fix the problem, but what about in the future? I tried everything to get the spots off, but they looked like they were under the clear coat.

I have a Blizzard White Venza and when I go a while between cleanups I notice a stain coming down from the rear part of the door handles and other places on the car near metal trim. It doesn't come off easily.

I have the same, seems to be coming the thin rubber pad between the handles and the door. If you catch it quickly it comes off easily.

I have a white 1999 Toyota Tacoma that does the same thing so I've never thought twice about it, just cleaned it off.

As for not using ArmorAll on the Venza I've never heard that before...I was never given those instructions by the dealer and I'm sure if it was a problem with using any type of cleaner/tire dressing it would be addressed in the owner manual. If not, Toyota would be liable for a lot of paint repairs.

Sorry to dig up an older thread.

I bought a 2011 Venza on July 1st. I had this very same problem. Turns out its a chemical reaction with antiozonant from the tires and pearl based paints. The dealer (Carmax in Kenosha, WI) is STILL correcting the issues. I had significant staining of the paint job. I should be getting the car back early next week, hopefully. I've been without it since the 6th.

Moral of the story - if you are buying a new blizzard pearl venza, ask your dealer to skip on the tire dressing and google dressings that won't stain your car.

I don't know. Why? Because the Venza has a clearcoat as the final coat and there isn't likely any direct interaction between paint pigment and tire dressing. I haven't used tire dressings on my tires and after more than 2-years am still find those spots during a thorough detailing of the car this past May - after a thorough detailing with spot removal the spring 2010. This is definitrely a surface contaminant not an interaction. Ceramic brake particulates seems to be the more likely cause.

I can appreciate that as a possibility.

In this case, I do know. It's been confirmed as an interaction by a body shop, Carmax, and a Toyota representative and the silicone (solvent) based tire dressing was at fault. Researching the internet points at a chemical reaction with antiozonant (google it).

My car has required both wet sanding and a repaint on both the metal and plastic body - not cool, but necessary. Detailing and using all kinds of solutions will not remove. It's possible the interaction is with the clear coat, but in either case, the stains were very real and permanent.

I learned a lot during this and recommend anyone buying a Pearl White Venza avoid solvent based tire dressings.

    Q. I have stains on my cars paint: I was told that it was from tire dressing slinging back onto my car. Can tire dressing stain paint?
    A. Formulation research has revealed that mold release agents from tires - mixing with solvents like Mineral Spirits, Kerosene, and VM&P Naphtha slinging onto the fascia areas of the car, over time will stain the clear coat. These solvents are commonly found in leading brands.
Nissan even has a service bulletin - http://www.myzroadster.com/Files/tsb.../NTB05-003.htm

I've learned through research on other forums and google that other Toyota owners have faced similar situations.

quite possible we're discussing two different causations of two different issues.....the spots I've dealt with and had toyota look at are raised on the serface and are movable with some effort. There is also a TSB relative clearcoat staining from the white protective shipping wrap.... either way it's a major PITA
