I have a 2009 Venza V6 FWD with 14k miles. I recently noticed an engine knock until the engine warms up. We have had some very cold weather this winter and I attribute the knock to driving in these conditions. I recently changed to full synthetic oil but I can not recall if I had the knock with non-synthetic oil. I have not brought the car back to the dealer.

I'm back with an update. As soon as the weather warmed up this summer the "Knock"
went away completly. This has got to be piston slap. It's back now that winter is here.
The vehicle runs perfect besides sounding like junk when cold. After it heats up knock
is gone. I really don't want anyone touching a motor that otherwise runs very well. I
have found in the past this only leads to more trouble. Researched this problem and
Toyota is not the only manufacture with piston slap. The vehicle is warranted for 7
years with the extened warranty. If the engine fails Toyota will fix it. I will post more
updates in the future. You can bet any other car purchase will be in the winter and I
want to start the car from a cold state, not the sales person!
