Default Why Should I Buy a Venza?

    Hello All:

This is my first post, and I really want to hear what owners think about their Venzas.

Some background - I'm 52 and currently drive a 2008 Infiniti G37S Coupe. My wife drives a 2007 Acura MDX. Our son will be going away to college in August, and we will be empty nesters.

So why am I interested in a Venza to replace the G37S?

Simple - the G37S just doesn't provide the utility I need. I'm a Scoutmaster, so I do a lot of camping and other outdoor activities. I also do a lot of work around the house, so I'm always hauling bulky things from Home Depot. I also cycle and there is no hitch available for a G37S coupe, so hauling my bike is not possible.

My wife needs her car all the time, so I'm really in need of my own SUV/Crossover. I love my G37S but I guess I've finally outgrown Sporty Coupes/Sportscars as it was proceeded by RX-7's, Supra's, Acura CL Coupes, etc.

I really like the Venza, but I'm also looking at the Subaru Outback, the Accord Crosstour, and maybe the Mazda CX-7.

Tell me what you like about your Venzas.

    Thanks in advance,

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

we bought our Venza 1 month ago and so far love it. It is a big car that handles like a much smaller car. i went from a Matrix to Venza for more space. i wanted a wagen that still handled okay and had the utilities of a wagen. Plus this one has AWD for winter driving in Canada (If we get any snow next year).

The fit and finish is great, the attention to detail is also great. It's like they though of many things i wanted to improve on my Matrix and van.

    Default Maybe you don't

Going from an Infiniti to a Toyota might be a problem. Why not look at a small Lexus SUV? I would look at the Lexus RX 450h.

The other option is the one I took when I needed more utility. I got a well used Toyota pickup truck to haul stuff, transport my bike and other utility chores.

Now, why you should get a Venza; It is MUCH less expensive than the Lexus. I would not consider the Crosstour since its utility is very suspect. The Subaru is OK but it is a much lower end vehicle. It would be even harder to go from the Infiniti to the Subaru.

My Venza is a very comfortable car with excellent performance and driveabilty. The fit and finish is poor. I expected much better from Toyota. We have the high end JBL audio which is just OK. The Nav is annoying because it can't be used while driving.

You might want to consider getting the tow prep package as you are going to want a tow hitch. Tow prep does NOT include a hitch but it would be good to have.

I came from a Ford Escape and couldn't be happier with the Venza............had it for over 2 months now and it's great.

    Here's my likes.......
*Great fuel mileage for a vehicle of this size and weight.
*Other than one tiny paint dimple the fit/finish on my Venza is excellent.
*Very comfortable and great handling vehicle
*3500Lbs towing capacity (with tow package)
*Awesome looks IMHO.........always get a ton of positive comments on our Silver 2010.
    *Very good acceleration (V6 AWD)
*Very good interior room and excellent leg room front and rear

Don't get me wrong...I love my Venza. It's ideal for me, and compared to the Jeep Grand Cherokee I used to have, a very sweet ride. I do believe, however, that if I had been used to driving a more luxurious vehicle like the Infinity, I would probably be disappointed. The Venza is not a "smooth" ride...it has more of a sporty feel, and you really feel the bumps on the larger wheels.

By all means, drive the Venza, but drive it over the roads you normally use...not just the dealer circle route they want to take you on. Also drive the Lexus. You should see, feel, and hear the difference.

    Thanks for the feed back.

You might be surprised by the ride and quality of an Infiniti. I have to admit, I've been a bit disappointed, especially with the paint. It's got it's fair share of rattles at only 20k miles. I love the car, it's just become to impractical for me.

I drove a V6 FWD Venza yesterday, and was quite impressed. The dealer is till "shopping" my car right now, so the trade-in price has not been finalized. Each e mail from my salesman inches closer to what I am looking for.

Overall, I was more impressed with the Venza than I thought I would be after the show and drive session yesterday. The wife thinks I'm nuts (well, that's been going on for 30 years), and wonders why I'm not looking at a Highlander or an RX350. To her, the Venza looks too much like a minivan, but I think it looks sporty. It sure felt that way yesterday.

If I pull the trigger, it will be a Umber Gold Mica AWD with Nav, Sunroof and the #2 Premium Package. One's been located and can be delivered on Monday. I'll keep you guys informed.

Again, thanks for all the feed back.

    Mike

I bought a Venza as it ticked all the boxes for me and was able to give me the luxuries I wanted and still take care of the day to day practical stuff. I needed good "trunk" space as I am disabled and use a walker and I hated that my previous car's "trunk" was full as soon as I put the walker in it. I also wanted AWD as I wanted good traction and control in winter. I love the moon-roof, heated seats, USB and blue-tooth connectivity. So far I have no complaints and my fit and finish is as I would expect. Not related to the car and more to the dealer, is the care I get from the dealership. My previous dealership seemed to loose interest in me as soon as I paid them. My Toyota dealership has been amazing and consistent in caring about me and my purchase. I have had more out of them in the last 4 months than I ever got in the 7 years I owned my previous car with the other dealership. I am taking my first road trip in a couple of weeks and I am so excited to be taking it out for a run!

I test drove a FWD for my first test drive. One thing I noticed was pretty bad torque pull to the right when I pressed hard on the gas. My AWD does not exhibit that issue. It could have been a problem with that particular car but, be aware it could be a problem with the FWD version.

The Venza is a very impressive vehicle in person. I first saw it on the Web site and thought my wife was nuts for suggesting it. My mind completely changed when I saw it in person. Your wife might have the same reaction. In fact, she might just decide it is hers when you get it.

Either way, I think you will like the ownership experience. In spite of a few issue with ours, I still like the car and would buy it again.

Okay guys, I just pulled the trigger on a 2010 Golden Umber Mica AWD with Prem Pkg #2, Nav, and a sunroof.

You are all personally responsible for this decision. :>)

    I pick it up tonight.

Thank you again for all the advice.
