My 2009 V6 AWD has 54,000 miles and has consistently been at 21-22 mpg local and 28-29 on long trips.

I read all of these numbers and seriously question how people are really driving their vehicle. There is no way anyone is getting 26-28 with a V6 unless you are driving 50 mph and with a heavy tail wind. I have driven my V6 Venza now for 10000 miles (80% highway) and never and I mean never get more than 22.8 mpg. I do not go over 72 mph and all in relatively flat terrain so the mileage being stated is questionable to me. The sticker on the Venza is very wrong when it comes to stated averages. My opinion.

Well...believe it or not many people I've talked to locally are getting at or near published mpg's...... what part of the country do you reside? Fuel blends vary a lot from one region to another. Some sections of the country are already blending 15% ethanol (E15) and in some cases, E10 blend is being sold that is really much higher content - that will definitely knock the mpg's down.
Having an Avalon (albeit being abot 700-800lbs lighter than the Venza and more aero-dynamic) with the same V-6, I got 31mpg's highway and 22mpg's City. So I can easily accept some of the numbers quoted.
Unless you drive your venza like a figter pilot, there is no good reson for such poor mpg's. Have you talked to your service dept. to check it out? maybe a bad oxy sensor? Or talked to other owners to see if their mpg's are down (venza owners or not)?

Well everyone that I have talked to with a Venza in my area (Kansas) gets no where even close to the advertised MPG. Now with the I4 they hit the numbers with ease. I do not drive it like a fighter jet and in fact baby it. Dealer has said that the MPG I am getting is common for this vehicle and have done all diagnostics and found zero wrong with it. From the sounds of it I have a bad one in more than one way. Anybody out there have any insight?

So far I have to agree with Mclynch. I think the Venza is a great machine, but the fuel economy numbers are not as stated on the adverts. I have to say that the US fuel economy ratings are closer to the actual values than the Canadian ratings; up here they have given the Venza a very rosy prediction for fuel economy. Has anyone noticed that the fuel economy improves with some "wearing-in"??

22,000 miles on my 09 V6 and I average 20.9 mpg fairly consistently. I've reset at least 3x and it keeps coming back to 20.9. My driving is 60% highway, 40% rural.

Type of gasoline makes a difference. With 4,300 miles on my 2010 I4, I have had the opportunity to make two good comparisons between gasoline with 10% ethanol and that with zero ethanol. Pure gasoline has increased my mileage to 2 mpg.

My wife's '10 I4 is getting about 21.5 mpg over her first 4500 miles driving about 80% city/suburban and 20% highway here in Atlanta. On the highway I'm seeing around 26mpg at 70-75mph with the A/C off. I've really been disappointed in the mileage to date, as it was the main reason we opted for the I4 over the V6.

My V6 AWD w/ tow package consistently gets 20.1 - 20.9 MPG with 60% highway/40% town. On pure highway trips it gets about the same. I live in Colo so highway means up in elevation 4,000 ft and back down in the same tank of gas. I must say it is a concern and a disappointment. Aside from that, I love driving this car and would still recommend it. Just don't believe the sticker claims on the MPG but that's nothing new in the car industry.
