We have about 1,600 miles on our new V6 AWD Venza. Overall average mileage is about 21 MPG. Our latest road trip which was mostly highway, Milwaukee Wi to Dubuke Iowa netted a bit less ... 20.5 MPG. We drove a lot around Dubuque IA and Galena ILL. Verry hilly area.

My question is: I have been using mid-grade 89 octane Mobile. Would the standard grade 87 octane give me better mileage? Your input is appreciated.

I am getting about 21.5 on mix of highway 60% back roads 40% highway I am seeing way better numbers on the open road traffic will really take a toll on my overall totals.

You will not see decent gas mileage until your engine is totally broken in. 1600 miles is only about half way there. I would keep recording it and see if it increases. Do you use the electronic calculator on the Venza or do you calculate mpg using trip miles vs. gallons with each fill??

I use the trip miles vs gallons method. I checked again yesterday when I filled up the car. The math shows I got 21.6 miles per gallon. Combination city and highway. Not bad really. Hopefully that will go up when the car is fully brocken in. A friend of mine has a 2010 V6 avalon. Same engine as mine but 2-wheel drive. He gets 28.5 miles per gallon on the highway. Going forward I am hoping for 25 miles per gallon on a road trip. I think that it will get there. I'll still continue to use the mid-grade Mobile gasoline.

I have 1200 miles on my 2010 4-cyl FWD Venza. All local driving thus far. First two fill ups, using regular grade gas, averaged 21.3 mpg based on actual consumption and miles driven (not on computer in car). Switched to 100% pure gasoline (Marathon) and have averaged 23.8 mpg by same calculation method and same type driving. Looking forward to a trip sometime to see how highway mileage is. Please note not all Marathon stations carry 100% pure gasoline. Most have the 10% ethanol (soon to be 15%).

www.pure-gas.org is an interesting site showing gas stations, by state, selling pure gasoline.

Good information. Thanks. I should not be to concerned that my V6 AWD is averaging about 21.5 MPG overall. I think that it is pretty good. I live in Wisconsin so all of the gas stations use a mix. I think 10% ethanol. I will check out the Marathon website because I live about 3 miles from the Illinois border and maybe I can find a Marathon station that carries 100% pure gasoline.

I have never gotten over 20.9 MPG with my V6 AWD, highway or otherwise. I have 30K on the car so don't expect break-in to make much of a difference. I have only used 10% MTBE. I will look for some pure gas here in Colo but I don't think it is available due to air quality laws. I'll take the cleaner air if that's the case.

In nearly 9 weeks and 1437 miles, my 2011 FWD V6 is averaging 24.5mpg which is certainly acceptable. I calculate mileage manually although the cars mileage calculator is pretty close to my numbers. The best mpg was 25.72 and the worst was 23.4. Most of my driving is on secondary 2-lane rural roads and 4-lane divided highways with about 10% city (stop & go (more stop than go!!)). The engine and transmission are extremely smooth and refined and the minimal mileage penalty over the I4 is worh the extra expense. The more I drive the car, the more I like it.

I have 19400 miles and have averaged 19 to 23mpg. 23 is primarily highway. These are averages for full tanks of around 300 miles.
