Thanks! I've been in touch with Ottawa Tire and am awaiting a quote.

I purchased my 2010 Venza V6 AWD last year. I have had winter tires on my cars for years and will never go back. Some winter days here in Ohio get quite interesting! My car being a V6 comes with the 20" tire package. I went to TireRack and let my fingers do the shopping. The 17" Blizzak DM-V1 tires make the car almost unstopable! I didn't waste the money on TPMS sensors. I can put up with the flashing light for a few months. I always mount my winter tires on inexpensive wheels so there is easy change over each season. I want my original 20" wheels and Michelin Latitude HP tires to look like new as long as possible.

note: your TPMS sensors will flash unless u get the sensors and have them programmed by toyota. Im not spending another cpl hundred for 4 months of winter driving, i can live with the flashing TPMS warning.
    What make are the tires??

DSCF3072.JPGDSCF3073.JPGI have had several different kinds of winter tires over the years. I am impressed with the Blizzak DM-V1's but if they were available at the time, I would have taken the Michelin X-Ice tires in a minute. I had the Michelin tires on my previous 4 wheel drive Suburban and you couldn;t tell you were driving in snow! The Blizzak's I have to say seem comperable. Lets see how they wear. The Michelins still looked near new after four seasons. Here are a few pictures of my winter tire/wheel set up.

    Default 245/65/17 geolanders on 17" take-off rims

After reviewing the various options, settled on Geolanders ($179 each + the charges, from Tireworld, Brampton) on 17" Toyota/Lexus takeoff rims.

Don't like to use alloys in the snow and slush, but was able to get these at a 'reasonable' price (about $150 CDN each) and figured they were my best bet.

Thanks to everyone on the forum for their help.

...and here are pics of the Venza, with its winter wear.

Default Tire pressure warning- will it go away when the original tires+rims reinstalled?

It took a few kms for the tire warning light to come on, but my wife reports that it did this morning.

Will it go away on its own when we put the factory wheels and tires (with sensor) back on the car?

If you have a set of wheels on the car without the TPMS sensors in each wheel, the light will come and go all winter. I have 17" aluminum wheels on my 2010 and Blizzak DM-V1 tires. The light will flash, stay on solid, then get tired and shut off! All is well when the originals go back on in spring.
