    Default uploading phone numbers

    hey Folks,

This may be too general a question, but, are there phones, wherein, the phone program cannot transfer tel numbers from a cell phone?
I heard that our system can only upload from PDA and blackberrys.

    Thanks!

    Hi, SilverBullit,

I don't know if you've seen this website, but it helped me with pairing/setting up my Blackberry 8900:
    http://toyota.letstalk.com
It will help you determine if your type of phone transfers your phonebook or not.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi PattyB,

I've seen that site. But I thought it was more for compatibility of phones and their BlueTooth technology. Since my phone "pairs" and I can make calls, I didn't realize, the system would upload the numbers. So, I guess, I''ll re-visit the site and search for this upload info.
    Thanks for your comment.

I have the Nav system and it was an automatic process for me. The Nav system will transfer phone numbers from any bluetooth enabled phone.

See for example page 254 of the Nav manual or section 3-4 of the owner's manual. I suspect that the same will be true for the non-Nav flavors with bluetooth phone capabilities.

    Hi
....and thanks for the reply. In the following:
what us meant "by operating your phone?" Or, in what way, should I operate it?

"If your phone does not support PBAP service,
    you must transfer the phonebook
    data by operating your phone"

    Thanks

I believe "by operating your phone" simply means you must initiate the data transfer from the phone itself - The bluetooth phone service in the car does not have the ability to initiate the query for the phone book data on the phone.

If you phone does not support PBAP (Phone Book Access Profile over Bluetooth) then you must initiate the transfer from the phone. Look at the manual for your cell and see if it has the ability to initiate phone book data transfers. The older the phone, the less likely this is the case...

I have a new iPhone which does support PBAP so the car is able to query the iPhone for the phone book data.

    That's nice! LOL.
OK, based on the the website Toyotaletstalk.com, I ordered a new phone that supports all that will allow me to connect. Apparently, my LG8300 will connect to the transfer to upload phone #s but will not proceed. At least, if you believe what you read!
    Thanks!

    Hey Folks,

This problem has been solved! It just so happens, I had a cell phone (LG8300)that was not compatible with the Nav contact upload feature. Thanks to a savvy person who pointed me to www.toyota.letstalk.com.
It just so happened, I was eligible for a phone upgrade and, thus, chose a phone that was compatible with the the contact upload list.
    Thanks to all who responded.

Yes, not surprised. I seem to remember your phone as being on the list and I, actually, considered it.
