Thanks KenAsh. I had looked at that link and it says that the iPhone numbers cannot be transferred automatically so that is why I was wondering what 'PatentBoy' meant by the car being 'able to query the iPhone for the phone book data.
With the 2010 Venza, can you say a persons name and it looks the phone number up from the iPhone? I wouldn't think so because that would require some voice recognition.
Do you have the NAV option? Regarding VRS, If I'm not mistaken, you should be able to use voice recognition for calling as well as, NAV operation. My '09 has it.

Thanks for the link...I haven't seen it before.
I'm actually about to buy a 2010 Venza but I'll probably have either the stock or the upgraded JBL Stereo (without Navi) so that's why I'm trying to figure out everything I can do with the setup. Specifically if the JBL stereo has any additional functionality other than the 6-disc changer and more speakers.
I have an iPhone 3GS and I still have to enter my numbers manually. That stinks. Too bad there is not a way to use voicedial thru the Venza to the phone. Any ideas, anyone? Thanks.

I have a Nokia phone which isn't compatible for uploading numbers from the phone phonebook. I eventually added the numbers manually by voice. However, when using the handsfree phone, the number being dialed shows up on the radio display, but the name does not. Anyone know how to input the names so they too show on the radio display? Thanks
Problem solved. Apparently when you add names and numbers to the phonebook "by voice", there is no way the names will appear on the screen and there is no way to add them by voice. The only way to do it is by copying from a phonebook on a cell phone. Since my new Nokia 6250 phone will do everything except allowing something as simple as a phonebook transfer, I transferred the SIM card back to my old Motorola V360 and transferred names and numbers one at a time up to the limit of 20. (Should have kept my Motorola instead of opting for what I thought was going to be a better phone) Now, both name and number appear on the radio dsiplay.
